The wedding is one of the most important steps in someone’s life but preparing for the same can make anyone lose their mind. Yes! Planning for the dream wedding is a tedious task but in this stressful time, you have achieved a great milestone by choosing the destination: Udaipur.
Known as the Venice of the East, Udaipur is a city of romance, art, culture, entertainment and beauty that leaves everyone speechless. Be it photographers, filmmakers, celebrities, politicians or tourists from across the world have become fascinated with this ethereal beauty. And you are next!
So, let’s cut down the chase and talk real business: Cost of planning a destination wedding in Udaipur. You may assume that planning a wedding in the city would be cheap but that’s not the case. Even if you choose a 3-star property or a 5-star property, the overall budget may fluctuate from 15 Lac to 1.5 Cr depending upon your choice, interest and affordability. Let us take you down to the road and help you plan your dream wedding.
Locate the Location
While there are other cities of Rajasthan that have their own flavor, Udaipur offers romance, royalty and luxury on its platter. In recent years, it has become a hot spot for all destination wedding planners to organize one of the most brilliant weddings. The city has around 15 luxurious heritage venues offered for the wedding which are surrounding the major lakes; Pichola and Fateh Sagar.
Out of these, the most preferred locations are historical monuments (now being offered as a venue for royal weddings) like Jagmandir Island Palace with Zenana Mahal/Manek Chowk (In City Palace compound) which charge around Rs. 10,000 to 15,000 per person inclusive of food, commute by the jetty, basic facilities etc.
However, Jag Mandir Island Palace does not accommodate guests, so planners often choose lakeside properties for a lavish stay. Certain locations except the top-notch palaces are the ones that give you the luxury and tinge of heritage such as Trident Udaipur, Oberoi Udaivilas, Leela Palace, Chunda Palace, Ananta Resort & Spa, Ramada Resort & Spa, Fateh Garh, etc. where reception of 100-1000 guests can take place.
Accommodate your Guests
After you have chosen the location, the major element to consider is the stay for the wedding guests and family members. Udaipur has certain 5-star hotel properties which charge between Rs. 12,000 to 16,000 per night, 4-star properties that charge between Rs. 8,000 to Rs. 12,000 per night as well as 3-star properties which charge below Rs. 8,000 which are able to provide a homely stay to the guests.
These luxurious hotels are Ananta Spa & Resorts, Lalit Laxmi Vilas, Chunda Palace, Trident, Radisson Blu, Fort Fatehgarh and others. Although 60% of the wedding cost is the cost of the location and accommodation, hotels do not charge separate rentals for the venue as it is covered by F&B, but if you are choosing to go higher category, then few hotels such as Oberoi Udai Vilas and Leela Palace cost of the room tariff ranges from Rs. 40,000 to as high as Rs. 3lacs in these hotels.
Cater Good Food
Yes, no wedding is complete without sumptuous food and it is of no wonder that people choose only the best caterers for their wedding ceremony that sometimes, even surpass the cost of the accommodation. Because, when you are paying for all the meals, it costs you per plate and the cost, in that case, goes higher.
If you consider 5-star hotels, the wedding buffet costs you around Rs. 4,000- Rs. 5,000 per person and the cost is somewhere between Rs. 2,500 to 4,000 in a 4-star hotel. Likewise, the cost reduces to Rs. 1,500 to Rs. 2,000 per person in a 3-star hotel.
The most economically priced option is to choose the gala meals or basic banquet option where the wedding ceremony of 150 guests will cost you around Rs. 3 to 7 Lac. Sometimes, to cut the budget, you may opt to bifurcate your guests in two hotels and host functions accordingly. Also, the hotels provide the rates inclusive of breakfast and taxes at double occupancy. So, if you have booked the hotel directly, you may insist the hotel offers you all tax inclusive rates which are preferred by the wedding planners as well.
This & That and Everything Else
Yes, everything includes everything else that makes the guests go wow. These are the basic elements which need consideration to complete the destination wedding in Udaipur on a grand level.
Décor: A beautiful palace can exude aesthetic appeal if it is touched by tasteful and minimal décor that makes it look special. The best way is to hand over everything to the wedding planner like us who would help you with ideas and implement them with the help of the reliable suppliers or you can have a set designer who would give you the concept and implement them at the venue. You can mark Rs. 10 to Rs. 20 Lac as the budget for floral décor and lightings, arrangement etc. but if you want an exotic theme, the budget can go higher to Rs. 30 to Rs. 35 Lac.
Photographer: This is the most important element which takes much of the chunk of your budget. A good photographer from anywhere else will cost a bomb but if you choose the local photographers, they will cost from Rs. 30,000 onward to Rs. 3 Lac per day. The range is quite wide and style is different from every photographer.
Other elements that matter in the wedding are makeup artists that you can get from your native place along to Udaipur or hire professionals locally from the city, entertainment such as DJ, Live Band, Classical Musicians, wedding procession, dancers, priest, master of ceremonies, Mehandi artists, transportation and logistics and much more.
